BlackBox’s specialists bring full DW lifecycle experience to projects, having implemented DWs in both Federal and commercial environments. We specialize in Oracle solutions but can implement DW theory across any platform.
Projects have become integral to governmental and commercial organizations. In a world of increased competition and pressure to cut costs most organizations have adopted models of discrete projects with begin points, end points, deliverables, and performance measures. The success of many organizations depends on the portfolio of projects that are being conducted and the project managers charged with delivery.
Experience is a key to successful project management. BlackBox’s Chief Executive Officer, Bill Dannenmaier has over 25 years of experience in technical project management and delivery. He has led projects in telecommunications acquisition, new venture start-up, data warehouse implementation, and software development as well as teaching project management to all levels of government and industry domestically and internationally. BlackBox’s brings experience and process to the timely and cost-efficient delivery of projects.
Recently project management has come to be integrated into the financial planning and performance measurement of organizations – with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) being put in place to judge the performance of individual projects in comparison to basic metrics. BlackBox is able to create the reporting systems and metrics necessary to allow projects to be tracked within EVMS systems.
According to most studies, more than 80% of the job of a project manager is communications – verbal and written. BlackBox emphasizes developing and implementing a detailed communications plan with its projects in order to ensure that all stakeholders to a project are aware of the information they need in a timely fashion.
Project Management is a balance of the processes and management areas described by the PMBOK® Guide. The Controlling process, for example, manifests itself in a normal project through the establishment of Change and Configuration Management routines for decision making and communicating the change. BlackBox pays keen attention to establishing and maintaining change control processes that keep the whole set of key stakeholders aware of project progress and scope definition.
Prior to the application of professional project management methodologies managers were often focused only on the execution processes of projects. The advent of a methodological approach has not supplanted execution methodologies but those methodologies must be folded into the broader set of project processes. BlackBox has experience and training in execution methodologies for its specialty domains- IT and telecommunications- such as the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
